Learning From Mistakes

We all make mistakes. It’s what we learn from them that is important. This semester I have single handedly made a lot of people not like me, because something I have probably shouldn’t of said. I made a mistake, and I have owned up to these mistakes. I always feel like I am on this pedestal, and people are just waiting for me to fall off, or even push me off it. I’m not perfect. I’ve made mistakes, but you can’t tell me you have never made any mistakes.

One of the things I always give people is the benefit of the doubt, but somehow I feel like no on ever gives me the benefit of the doubt. They automatically think I am this horrible person. I’m not. One of the many mistakes I  have made this semester is talking shit about someone when I have no room to talk, but I owned up to that. Now all these people don’t like me because of it. I didn’t realize how perfect everyone else is, and they have never talked shit about someone. Oh wait..

With this all being said I have learned from my mistakes. I’ve learned that people are always waiting for you to fall, and when you do fall you have to hold your head high and act like you don’t care. We all care to some extent. Even if you say you don’t, a part of you does. It’s just human nature and we can’t help but want people to like us. I’ve also learned that I probably should keep my mouth shut sometimes. Talking shit about people honestly gets you no where. Don’t do it. Just leave it alone.

When you do fall off that pedestal that all these people seem to have you on don’t let it get to you. We have learned from the best (Taylor Swift) to just shake it off. So shake it off, get up, and keep going. No matter what you do people are always going to have something negative to say about it. Owning up to your mistakes instead of hiding from them is one of the best things you can do. Hiding from your mistakes just makes it worse. Who cares that you made a mistake. Nobody I repeat nobody is perfect. Don’t feel like you need to be.

Don’t be afraid to make mistakes either. My life would be pretty boring if I hadn’t made all these mistakes. Sometimes it takes making a mistake to learn an important life lesson and maybe then you can figure out who you are or who you want to become. Mistakes can also lead you down paths you might not of gone through if you didn’t make a mistake. Just remember that everything happens for a reason. While you may not know the reason at the exact moment, eventually you will learn the reason.

“Well, I think that part of being young is not exactly knowing why you do some of the things that you do. And it’s by exploring your life or experimenting or making mistakes and learning from them hopefully that you start to forge an identity.” – Stephen Chbosky
