Balancing Grad School And Work

Wow. I haven’t blogged since September. It’s been a busy couple of months for me and I’m trying my best to balance grad school and work, but sometimes it’s a lot to deal with. I’m blogging on my day off. I had no work or class today. I went to the store and I’ve caught up with all my incredible T.V shows. I haven’t done any homework and I now I probably should be doing homework instead of blogging, but it’s been so long and I really really miss blogging. Blogging helps so much sometimes. If you have ever considered making a blog and you haven’t yet, or you don’t think you have the time (because sometimes you don’t) make one. It feels good write and get your mind off your crazy life.

So how do you balance grad school and work?

If I’m being honest I don’t really know the answer. I’ve been going out way too much lately. Even during the week I found myself grabbing a drink at my favorite restaurant Barrio. Grad school has been stressing me out so much lately it’s hard to not want to go grab a drink.

I do think you can balance grad school and work. You need to plan your weeks out. Make a schedule and stick to it. Don’t get lazy. It’s hard to not get lazy sometimes. I mean I’ve laid on my couch ALL day watching Hulu, but sometimes you need a day where you do nothing. Don’t forget that. When you work hard and are constantly stressed out I think you’re allowed to have a break and relax.

In order for me to get any type of schoolwork done I usually have to leave my apartment. I can NEVER get any work done if I’m in my apartment. Except for blogging. I can blog on my couch and watch SNL no problem.

Balancing grad school and work is doable especially if you can get yourself into a routine. Have days where you work on certain classes. Spend time at the library. Try to not go out so much during the week and save those days for the weekend. If you’re like me that can be kinda hard, but just have nights where you stay in and get the stuff you really need done, DONE!

I haven’t figured it out completely yet and maybe I never will, but I am trying really hard to balance everything in my life right now.
